Nov-Dec 2004 - SOLUTIONS

R262 - Andrei Kornilov

Probleemblad, Nov-Dec 2004

Not 1. Rf3#?, because black has the move! So the solution is 1. .. hg3#.

Resolution: -1. Re1-g1 h5-h4 -2. Rg1xQe1 Qf1-e1 -3. b3-b4 Ke1xSf2 and further Se8->f2; Sf6xRe8; Rf2-f3; Rf3-g3 etc.

The black h-pawn can't go back further than h5, or the rook can't get back.
