- Jedes Segment eines Schiffes belegt genau ein Feld des
Diagramms, niemals jedoch ein Zahlenfeld.
- Schiffe sind im Diagramm entweder
horizontal oder vertikal orientiert und berühren einander nicht, weder
orthogonal noch diagonal.
- Eine Zahl in einem Feld gibt an, wie viele der 8
Nachbarfelder ein Schiffssegment enthalten.
- Die Anzahl der Schiffe des jeweiligen
Typs ist bei jeder Aufgabe angegeben.

Place a fleet of ships in the grid. There are several different types of
ships: Submarines (), destroyers
(), cruisers (),
battleships (), aircraft carriers
(), and so on.
- Each ship segment occupies exactly one cell of the grid,
but never a numbered cell.
- Ships may be oriented horizontally or
vertically and don't touch each other, neither
orthogonally nor diagonally.
- A number in a cell indicates how many of the 8 adjacent
cells contain a ship segment.
- For each puzzle the types and numbers of ships
to be placed is given.
