Andernach Chess

Glossary

Andernach Chess is a fairy condition in which all chessmen change color (and the side) after they capture. The rule does not apply to Kings. A pawn capturing on the 8th rank is 1st promoted, and then changes color.

Clearly, this fairy condition makes inventory and balance somewhat trickier!

[rnbqkbnr/ppp1pppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/RNBQKB1R]

15+15. Shortest proof game in 3.0 moves (Andernach chess)

Solution:

1. Nf3 Nc6 2. Ne5 Nxe5(=wN) 3. Nxd7(=bN) Nb8.

Anti-Andernach

In this variant, non-capturing moves imply a change of color (except for Kings) while capturing moves are like in normal chess.
