How to Invoke a Puzzle Applet

The easiest way to use the puzzle applet is to simply link to it. In blogs and in forums this is often the only way the puzzle applets can be used because it is not possible to integrate the applets on the website itself.

It's that easy! Let's have a quick look at the most common URL parameters:

w	is the width of the applet in pixels
h	is the height of the applet in pixels, including the toolbar and the message line
r	is the number of rows of the diagram, excluding label rows
c	is the number of columns of the diagram, excluding label columns
d	is the number of allowed values (depth); see e.g. Patchwork, Neighbours
p	is the puzzle description
s	is the solution of the puzzle
a	defines the dissection of the diagram into areas (rooms, regions); see e.g. Heyawake, Patchwork

w/h and r/c must be adjusted according to the actual puzzle size. w should be at least 450 so that all controls and messages are visible. The height of the toolbar and the message line is approximately 90 pixels.

The format of p and s depends on the puzzle type. Generally, p and s are comma-separated lists of values (e.g. numbers), "-" denotes an empty cell and can be omitted. In most cases s is optional, but if s is omitted, some features (e.g. hint and solution) are not available. In some cases p is optional if s is specified (because p can be derived from s).

target="_blank" forces the applet to open in a new window and should be omitted if the applet should replace the content of the current window. Fillomino Puzzle can be replaced by a more meaningful text.

	d	is the number of letters (d ≤ size). Default: d = size
	rl	is the list of row labels at the edges of the diagram, separated by commas or slashes, "-" denotes an empty label. The left label column comes first, followed by the right label column.
	cl	is the list of column labels at the edges of the diagram, separated by commas or slashes, "-" denotes an empty label. The top label row comes first, followed by the bottom label row.
	p	is the list of clue letters within the diagram, separated by commas or slashes, "-" denotes an empty cell. p can be omitted if there are no clue letters within the diagram.
	s	is the list of letters which specify the solution, separated by commas or slashes.
